Digitizing
Digitizing is the term given and often referred to as scanning. At Central Scanning, we can generate accurate data from the object for a variety of uses. Typical examples of this are for the update of CAD models after model reviews when a product is changed using non geometric methods i.e. by hand. This, in normal circumstances poses a number of problems when a CAD model update is required. By digitizing / scanning, the ambiguity is removed and the data is available for an accurate update.
At Central Scanning, we have the experience of the ‘real world’, therefore understanding the customers requirements and can assist in achieving the customers goals in a cost effective manner.
Surfacing - Back to Top
The digitized files can be supplied back to the customer directly in STL format for machining / rapid prototyping or if required, we can provide surface data back in all proprietary formats – Catia V4, Catia V5, Unigraphics, Ideas, Solidworks, Iges etc. Please enquire for specific requirements.
Verification / Inspection - Back to Top
Using the Comet Inspect Software designed by Steinbichler Optotechnik, we can compare the digitized data with the reference CAD data and provide a report. The comparison of the data sets (digitized and CAD) is taken from a large number of points.
There are numerous functions within the software for measuring and comparing parts and these can be discussed for specific applications.
The reports can be a ‘colour chart display’ with a shown tolerance table and/or with specfic point of interest shown using flags with a delta value. Excel type report sheets can also be generated.
There are several alignment methods and inspection criteria and these can be discussed and agreed prior to the report being created.
