What is 3D scanning?

3D Scanning is a process used to create a 3 dimensional model of an item. The Process creates a series of points known as a point cloud. From the point cloud a polygon model can be created. 3D scanning has many applications but is mainly used for reverse engineering, inspection and rapid prototyping.

Who benefits from 3D Scanning?

The main benefits of 3D Scanning are; speed over traditional measuring method and so is time-saving, there is high quality and quantity of data captured, high accuracy and 3D scanning is non-contact (in most cases).

Does it matter what my part is made of?

No, our scanners can scan a wide range of different materials!

Will the scanning damage my part?

Our scanners are non-contact scanners so will not have to touch your part so will not damage it. The white light, blue light or laser (depending on scanner) will all have no affect or damage on your part.

How much do your 3D scanning services cost?

Our 3D scanning services vary on the size and complexity of objects. We can provide you with an accurate quote if we can get an idea of what items look like and so we ask you to send us a picture of the part if possible. Please contact info@central-scanning.co.uk for quotes and queries.

Can you scan at my premises?

We can provide scanning at our centrally located premises in the Midlands or we can scan onsite at your premises however extra costs for travel/accommodation may be incurred which you will be included in quotes.

Do you sell scanning systems?

We offer a wide range of 3D scanners for sale. Our close relationships with ZEISS and Artec allow us to offer their systems for sale at competitive prices.

How much do scanning systems cost?

The scanners we sell have a wide price range to suit all needs and budgets. Please contact us for a formal quote and we can recommend which system is best suited to you.

Do you provide training?

Yes! We can provide training on system and software sales at our premises or at your site.
