Artec Neo Features
Until now, users had to choose between target-based laser scanning accuracy and the speed, detail, and color of structured light. Now, you don’t have to compromise — Artec Neo offers it all in one device.
Target-Anchored Metrology Workflow
Speeds up inspection times by eliminating the need to cover entire parts in photogrammetry targets. Instead, you only place targets on critical reference areas where tight tolerances are mandatory.
Hybrid Tracking Engine
Uses onboard AI algorithms to combine structural geometry, surface texture, and color details to track the scanner’s position without losing alignment on targetless sections.
Mobile Screen Mirroring
Pairs with a companion smartphone application to turn a personal mobile device into an interactive, real-time scanning display.

First article inspection
Achieve metrology-grade accuracy everywhere: full target coverage. Targets across the whole part keep every frame anchored — with Artec Neo reaching 0.025 mm + 0.035 mm/m volumetric accuracy over the entire surface.

Reverse engineering & Validation
Capture complete objects with metrology-grade accuracy on toleranced features. Targets go around the features that perform a function — datums, fits, interfaces — anchoring accuracy exactly where it has to hold, with other surfaces captured target-free with full detail and colour.

Inspection & Dimensional Control
Inspect critical surfaces without covering them with targets. Targets go on the fixture, not the part — the setup carries the metrology-grade accuracy framework, with no error accumulation across the measurement. Even deep channels and passages, where targets can’t be applied, are measured as-is to be compared against CAD.

Fast Scanning, Anywhere
Half the lead time. Artec Neo excels at capturing fine detail in ultra-high resolution while maintaining metrology-grade accuracy, without slowing down like standard laser scanners. With a built-in battery and Wi-Fi, Artec Neo gives users the freedom to scan continuously where running a cable wouldn’t be feasible for on-site inspection, scanning at height, and capturing in confined spaces.

Assembly / Retrofitting & Machine Installation
Measure features relative to each other — without scanning everything in between. A target trail links connecting points into one common frame of reference — scan the trail first, then just the features that matter. Capture vital engineering data — flange-to-flange distances, bolt-circle orientation, and mounting-point coordinates over several meters with metrology-grade accuracy.

Design, Prototyping & 3D Modeling
Accurate and fast capture, no targets at all. Scan entire objects in minutes with up to 0.05 mm accuracy and resolution — no target placement or surface preparation required. Get clean meshes ready for CAD, as well as full-color part scans carrying numbers, casting marks, and surface condition.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is hybrid 3D scanning?
Hybrid 3D scanning automatically switches from target-free geometry and texture tracking to target-based tracking. This flexibility means you no longer have to choose between fast, high-resolution scans and metrology-grade accuracy: capture contextual data target-free and apply targets only to key features like datums, seals, and alignment surfaces.
How do Artec Point’s scanning modes work?
You can switch between Artec Point’s three modes at the click of a button. Ultra-fast scanning quickly captures large objects in less detail, Hyper-fine scanning offers higher resolution for tricky-to-scan surfaces, while Hole scanning is ideal for digitizing narrow geometries.
Can I use target and target-free scanning in one project?
Yes, and within a single part. Artec Neo’s hybrid mode automatically switches from fast, target-free scanning to target-based capture. This allows you to cover geometry like exterior panels first, then capture key features with higher accuracy – in one continuous workflow.
How accurate is Artec Neo?
Artec Neo delivers accuracy up to 0.025 mm and 3D accuracy over distance of 0.025 mm + 0.035 mm/m. The first figure describes accuracy on small features and local detail; the second describes accuracy across a whole object, where error grows with the distance between measured points. Both figures come from measurements with a calibrated reference object at multiple angles across the full working range.
How is Artec Neo’s performance verified?
Artec Neo’s performance is verified at Artec 3D’s independent metrology laboratory, and every unit is supplied with an accuracy certificate. The lab operates according to ISO/IEC 17025 principles, and acceptance testing is carried out as per the VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 standard. To remove operator variability, these tests are conducted using automated robotics along controlled trajectories with internationally traceable reference objects.
What type of targets does Artec Neo use?
Artec Neo uses retroreflective targets. Each unit comes with a set of Artec-branded targets; more of these can be purchased separately. All accuracy specifications are established and verified using Artec targets, so they are recommended for accuracy-critical applications.
Third-party retroreflective targets may be compatible, but their optical properties and manufacturing quality vary, so Artec Neo may not reach its specified accuracy when they are used.
Is Artec Neo fully wireless?
Yes. Artec Neo features 100% wireless functionality. With a built-in battery and Wi-Fi connectivity, you can untether entirely from your PC for on-site inspection, working up to six meters away with a router. The device also features a Thunderbolt 3 interface for wired 3D scanning at your workstation.
What is Artec Neo’s battery life?
Each Artec Neo ships with a battery set that provides 40 to 50 minutes of continuous scanning time, enough to complete most projects without cumbersome cables or a battery belt clip.
What software do I need to use with Artec Neo?
Artec Neo operates using Artec Studio, our all-in-one 3D scan data capture and processing software. It’s the same software that powers our entire range, so there’s nothing new to learn if you already run Artec hardware. The platform comes with all the reverse engineering and inspection essentials – plus integration with third-party software like Geomagic Design X, Control X, SOLIDWORKS(opens in new tab), and Polyworks Inspector for more advanced tasks.
Like Artec Studio, the Artec Twins software for larger datasets also supports the combination of different Artec 3D scanners, so Artec Neo can be paired with long-range LiDAR devices. This allows users to capture wider scenes while picking up finer detail where it counts.
What size parts can I scan with Artec Neo?
Artec Neo captures everything from small, high-data-density components like turbine blades up to jigs, fixtures, castings, assemblies, and structures spanning several meters, such as vehicle bodies and aircraft panels.
